Years ago, whenever one of our Divas would see a short inspirational quote, she would always say to us… ”Now that’s a tattoo!”
Not that we’re contemplating getting a tattoo, mind you, but it did get us thinking that we’ve heard the phrase, "it is what it is" so frequently over the past couple of years that it really would make the perfect COVID tattoo!
It is what it is - an expression that can be uttered with every emotion ranging from excitement to despair. This past 21 months (and counting) has taught us a number of life lessons – some good and some not-so-good.
Here are a few of the lessons that resonate with us:
LESSON # 1 - The important things in life aren’t things. When you’re stuck in your home, surrounded by all your wonderful stuff for so long, you begin to realize that you are really missing the treasured social interactions with your family and friends.
LESSON # 2 - Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans. John Lennon expressed this thought in his song, “Beautiful Boy” and he was right. For some people, COVID restrictions gave them a nudge to make major changes; others tended to sleep-walk through the pandemic. What did you do?
LESSON # 3 – Don’t take things for granted. Remember the days before expressions like “flatten the curve”, “new variant”, “the jab” and “double-vaxxed” were part of your vocabulary? How naïve we seemed yet, in hindsight, how spontaneous!
LESSON # 4 – Always have a Plan “B”. Things change at a moment’s notice and figuring out how to adapt to change is an important life skill. Who would have thought we would have learned to use technology so effectively – not so much because we wanted to, but because we had to!
As a brand-new year approaches, we wish you
the VERY BEST of everything life has to offer!
Here's to a SIMPLY fabulous 2022!
simply yours...
