There are two kinds of people, those who believe in New Year’s Resolutions and those who don’t!
For many, the beginning of a brand-new year is an opportunity to start fresh and make changes–large or small– in their lives. These people tend to believe in New Year’s Resolutions and they create their list, like clock work, every January 1st.
Others are not fans of the tradition and consider January 1st as just another day.
Sometime ago, an article summarizing the Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions caught our eye. Whether you make New Year’s Resolutions or you don’t (we won’t even talk about people who make resolutions and don’t keep them), here’s the list of the TOP TEN New Year’s Resolutions:
1. Spend more time with family and friends.
2.Exercise more.
3.Lose weight and get in shape.
4.Stop smoking.
5.Have more FUN!
6.Quit drinking!
7.Get out of debt!
8.Learn a new skill!
9.Volunteer and help others
10.Get organized–our personal favourite!
For the most part, it’s a predictable list.
But maybe one of the resolutions will resonate with you and you’ll decide to do something about it in the upcoming year. Start small. Start now. That’s what we tell our clients when we help them downsize and prepare for an upcoming move.The same mantra works wonders for most of the items on the above list.
If you want to “stop smoking” or “quit drinking”– then there’s the NIKE slogan–“Just DO IT!”
